Organic Wines in the Hunter Valley & Central Ranges
Organic wine has been steadily gaining momentum in Australia, and we’re pretty happy to be part of that shift. More and more people are looking for wines that not only taste great in the glass but also do their bit for the planet. For us, that’s what organic winemaking is all about.
Our home is, of course, the Hunter Valley. But when it comes to sourcing organic fruit, we often head west to Orange and the Central Ranges in NSW. The cooler, drier climate out there makes it easier to farm organically — less disease pressure, fewer pests, and more opportunity to let the vines thrive with minimal interference. It’s a real partnership with nature, and we think that shows in the wines.
Ash grew up around vineyards, and when his dad converted his Upper Hunter vineyard to organic many years ago, he noticed a huge difference almost straight away. He used to say it was as if life had come back to the vineyard — lizards basking on the posts, insects buzzing, and birds filling the rows again. That memory has stuck with us and continues to shape the way we think about farming and winemaking today.
One of the things we hear most often about our organic wines is that they taste “clean.” It’s a hard thing to put into words, but there’s a brightness and purity to the flavours that people really notice. Fresh fruit, lifted aromatics, and a sort of honesty in the glass — as if nothing is getting in the way of what the vineyard wants to say.
There’s also something exciting happening across Australia right now. A new generation of winemakers are leaning into organic practices, pushing the industry towards a more sustainable, less industrial future. It’s inspiring to see, and it feels good to be part of a movement that’s about protecting the land as much as it is about crafting beautiful wines.
For us, choosing organic fruit isn’t just about farming differently — it’s about respect. Respect for the vineyard, for the growers, and for the people who drink our wines. Because at the end of the day, if we can make wines that are vibrant, expressive, and enjoyable, while also leaving the land in a better place for future generations, then that’s a win worth raising a glass to.
If you’d like to taste the difference for yourself, we’d love to welcome you at our cellar door. Come by, meet the team, and enjoy a glass (or two) of our organic wines — we think you’ll notice that “clean” character everyone keeps talking about.
